So You Want To Move Abroad?

So You Want To Move Abroad?

decisions are the hardest thing to make

The hardest part about making such a big decision in your life is not knowing whether or not the change is going to be good or bad, but the only way to find out is to try, right?

Unless life is perfect, what harm can it do? Chances are life back home will be the same when you return anyway, so why not give it a shot?

Apply for that job, book that flight, sort your accommodation and go!

The first step is the hardest, trust me, but once it’s done, it’s done, you’ll only thank yourself later, and if you don’t, it was an experience that you learnt from.

I never thought in a million years I would take such a big risk, especially at the time that I did. When you’re broken, being alone can be dangerous but it can also be the thing that you need to get through.

I was scared, petrified even, but I looked at it as an adventure.

You: What if I fail? – Me: What if you don’t?
You: What if I hate it?  Me: What if you love it?
You: What if it sucks? – Me: What if it’s the most amazing experience you’ll ever have?
If it does turn out and you’re right, you ‘failed’, you hate it and it sucks, guess what… YOU CAN FLY HOME! Or anywhere in the world for that matter. It’s really as simple as that. You pack your things, and you leave. You do what makes you happy and remember you don’t owe anyone, anything. Not even the people back home an explanation.
Ok, it was supposed to be amazing, you feel like you failed, you’re embarrassed, etc. you’ll get over it. Trust me, I know. I’ve been there, done that, wrote a blog post or two about it.

Let go and let the universe work. Everything happens for a reason. If you’re not meant to go, you won’t go, but if you do, trust that it was the right decision for you, no matter what the outcome.
Learn to rely on yourself, love yourself, only have yourself. Realise what friendships to keep and those to leave behind. Meet new people, have new experiences, do something you’ve never done.
I promise you, it will be the best decision you ever make!
